This image was taken by Vivian maiers (a world famous street photographer from the 1950's)
This is a normal, dull image because there is nothing going on in the image such as people walking or doing a certain thing however we are shown that the water has made a relfection of the signs on the building next to it which create an effect as if there is a world underneath our feet. this image is in black and white but it has not been edited because of the year it was taken but i think that this gives the image more of an effect than it would in colour becuase it leaves you in a dark place and there are many different colours that can be added to the image but i also think it would destroy the image because the colour wouldn't help the image since it is night time so i think if it is in black and white the contrast is much better than it would be in a colourful image. The composition of the image is something which can't really be described. the photographer gives the effect of this photo by standing in a certain position so the signs will reflect from the water into the camera. i think that the photographer was standing quite close to the puddle so she could get the right angle looking at the puddle. |
In my opinion this is my favourite image it has its own composition that I made with an orange cone I thought that maybe it would create a tunnel pointing to the sun and when I took the it, it came out better than I thought it would but at the same time the cone could have been straighter than it was so then the corner of the image wouldn't have part of the cone there but the effect on the sun makes it look different meaning the sun has come out a different colour and not so blinding as if the cone has done the job of sun glasses and made it darker and you are able to make out the sun because it is much more clear than if you were to look up at the sun during the day.It is a very spherical because the way the cone is round and after that the such which is round. The background is made up of the branches and light where as the foreground is the water inside the cone and the actual cone
In my opinion this is my least successful image because it is dull. it doesn't seem so interesting as the others because it's just writing on a sign it has nothing going on such as scenery. it's a simple image and it has nothing to it but some people might find the image interesting because of the way the sun is beaming down onto the sign but if it were to have shadowing and a better position it would be much better and would seem more realistic so if i had taken it closer and pointing at the ground then maybe there would have been shadows of the sign which would seem different.
shadow and cropping images
shadow and cropping images is a technique that all street photographers use. shadowing is an effect where the photo is based around the shadow of a person sometimes there is even no person in the image and only their shadow.cropping is an effect which some people think is when a photo is put through photoshop or another type of editing software but street photographers crop it manually so when the take an image the take either the top or bottom half of a person and maybe
I think that this is my favourite image out of this collection because it is showing how most people get to there lessons by running or walking and i think it shows how people behave in there own personal way because it showing people walking with friends or just walking by themselves and running hoping that they will not be late or maybe to catch up with a friend
To be able to think of taking the images took me a while to think what i was going to take because where I had to work as an individual I didn't have my friends around to influence what I was taking usually they would give me an idea but it was different so it took me longer to take my first image but then after that my mind was struck with different ideas but some of the images have come out better than I thought but if there was more people around I would have been able to capture a lot more in how the school is and the way people act and I lost opportunities because I wasn't paying enough attention to the people around me and what they where doing.
Out of the images i have taken this is my most successful because the way I have taken it I stood next to a painting that a pupil has made and then I have taken a picture of six formers working and people walking past them I think this shows the normal day life of a school people working and getting up to their own things and getting on with their work that they have to do I think that taking the image next to the painting is quite a good idea because it shows the different colours of the painting it then goes to the ground which is Orange and it makes the image quite vibrant
Most photographers seem to look for triangles in their images and it is what makes up the image because there are triangles everywhere but its not just triangles that form the image into what it is and why it is an image that is known as a masterpiece its things like diagonals, leading lines, depth, framing, etc in this image of the three boys known as "The Skeleton Boys" taken by a fantastic photographer called Josef Kouldelka
compare and contrast
Matt Stuart
in this image by matt stuart it is a simple image of a member of the public but the thing that makes this image interesting is that the fact is has a gigantic hand looking like it is picking someones nose but it is also the colours in the image the fact that the mans body almost disappears because it is so bright but yet you are still able to see the out line of it and the fact he is wearing the background. although there is not many colours in this image it still seems quite vibrant. in my eyes i think that the hand looks abit like the one in the image below

saul leiter
in this image it just simply shows a hand but it looks like the person who owns the hand has been sleeping in the back and he is just waking up and it looks like the photographer was sitting in their car at the time they saw this and thought that taking this image would seem interesting and maybe thought that its not exactly a thing you see on a normal daily basis

in todays lesson we had to try and take images that break the rule of thirds and try not to add it into our images in the images below it is my attempt of trying to do this
i have chosen this image as one of my most successful images because the way the bench practically fills up the whole image and only leaves 2 small gaps on the side but then the bench leads up to theos legs and you are not really to sure what to look at
this is my least successful image because the way the doorway and the classroom line up into all the columns in the rule of thirds and it doesnt break the rule and is a example of rule of thirds where as the image above is breaking it but then again this is my first go of trying not take an image thinking about the rule of thirds so it was quite difficult to get image that dont include it.
